LEED

LEED for Homes is the latest, most comprehensive green building rating system for residential construction. The program is being developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and leading industry experts across the nation. The goal of the LEED for Homes program is the transformation of the mainstream homebuilding industry toward more sustainable practices.

There are currently over 40 major green building programs across the country, but LEED for Homes will be the first to provide national consistency and a consensus standard. The Program is currently in the Pilot Phase, with eleven pioneering verification agencies designated as Program Providers. The strength of LEED for Homes is in third-party verification. GWS, as a Program Provider, will be able to determine whether green building features have been properly installed, through on-site inspections during the construction phase. Once the home is complete, GWS will issue a series of performance tests to determine whether each green building system performs as intended. Upon review of the collected data, GWS will be responsible for determining the level of performance according to the rating scale and issue certification.
